Schroeder Ambulatory Centre is recruiting qualified Surgical Assist Physicians to support our growing Orthopedic Hip & Knee Program in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Working alongside a team of experienced orthopedic surgeons, Surgical Assists will play an integral role in providing perioperative support for primary hip and knee arthroplasty procedures within a modern ambulatory surgical environment. Other future surgery services may include, benign gynecological, minimally invasive spine, ENT, urology, inferior vascular, and other orthopedic surgeries including, foot/ankle, and shoulder/elbow.

Key Responsibilities
Provide first-assist support during orthopedic hip and knee surgical procedures.
Assist with patient positioning, surgical exposure, tissue handling, hemostasis, wound closure, and other intraoperative activities as delegated by the operating surgeon.
Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care activities, as appropriate.
Maintain compliance with infection prevention and control, patient safety, and operating room protocols.
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to support efficient patient flow and optimal surgical outcomes.
Complete clinical documentation and operative records in accordance with organizational requirements.
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and accreditation-related initiatives as required.

Qualifications & Experience
Licensed physician in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
Current surgical assisting privileges or demonstrated experience assisting in orthopedic surgical procedures.
Completion of recognized surgical training or equivalent clinical experience.
Strong knowledge of sterile technique, operating room procedures, and perioperative patient care.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to patient-centred care, quality improvement, and patient safety.
Experience supporting total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures is considered a strong asset.
