Two Family Physician Positions (FHO)
At North Oshawa Medical Centre Partnership, we are committed to the health and well-being of all people within the community. We provide a full range of health and social services to individuals and families and have an up-to-date modern facility including physician offices, urgent care and pharmacy services.
We are located in a rapidly expanding area of Oshawa, about 30-minutes east of Toronto, and currently maintain an active list of patients awaiting the arrival of a new family physician.
Position Summary
We are looking for two (2) permanent Family Physicians to maintain our established practice of over 1800 patients and to provide services to our active list of patients awaiting the arrival of new Family Physicians at our practice. The Family Physician would be expected to perform all duties associated with family practice, including: examining and advising patients; diagnosing and treating disease, physiological disorders and injuries of patients; acting as the primary care provider and providing continuous care toward the management of patients' health; addressing minor emergencies; ordering diagnostic procedures; prescribing and administering medication and treatments; and performing minor surgeries.
The Family Physician will be expected to work full-time (at least 30-hours per week). As part of our agreement with the Ministry of Health, we provide after-hours care from Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm. We also provide urgent care from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday. This coverage is shared between all physicians at our centre, and the Family Physician would be required to complete an on-call and urgent care rotation once every 11-weeks. Otherwise, the Family Physician will be permitted to customize their own clinic hours outside of the mandatory rotation.
All work will be completed at our medical centre located at 550 Bond Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, L1J 0E4.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Medical Degree
- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Medical Council of Canada
- Prior to starting practice, required to obtain medicolegal insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association, or with another carrier at your expense.
- Letter of good standing from previous employer.
- Must provide Criminal record check, Child and Adult abuse check prior to starting practice.
- At least a signed 3-year Return of Service Agreement is required, with the option of an agreement up to 5-years.
- All duties will be performed in English.


Compensation and Benefits
Our funding model is a Family Health Organization (FHO). Physicians under FHO are considered to be self-employed. Under this structure, there are several sources of remuneration including base rate, out of basket and bonuses, fee for service, uninsured services, and WSIB. Anticipated total annual compensation based on this model and our practice size is approximately CAD$450,000 to CAD$500,000 annually. For FFS, the Family Physician will be paid according to the Ministry of Health's Schedule of Benefits. For rostered patients, the Family Physician is paid a monthly base rate and a comprehensive care fee for each patient that is rostered. There are also bonus opportunities for Diabetes, Palliative Care, Mental Health and Access.
Competitive rate of overhead charged. The Family Physicians will also be offered a signing bonus and will have the option to participate in our group benefits program which includes extended medical, life insurance, AD&D, LTD, paramedical practitioners including massage, chiropractor, physiotherapy, and mental health services, dental and vision insurance as well as out of country coverage.
