Nanaimo Regional General Hospital
Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is the primary healthcare facility serving central and northern Vancouver Island, supporting a regional population of over 300,000. The hospital provides a wide range of medical and surgical services, including critical care, maternity, mental health and specialized cardiac care.
- Emergency Department sees approximately 25,000 visits per year (70 visits per day).
- Busy hospital with 315 acute care beds.
- Local specialties include: ICU, general surgery, anesthesia, OB/GYN, pediatrics, radiology, neurology and cardiology.
- Affiliation with the University of British Columbia's Island Medical Program provides teaching opportunities to medical students and residents.
- Host the region's only Medical Imaging and Cancer Care facilities.
- Site teams include Addiction Medicine Consult Services that offers consultations to support inpatient care for patients with suspected or known substance use disorders.
- The Gathering Place is an all-inclusive, non-denominational space for quiet reflection and ceremony for patients.
